About this capture
Industrial documentation usually forces a choice: a mesh you can measure but that takes minutes to load, or a walkthrough that loads fast but loses the detail. A Gaussian Splat of this size sits in between. This scene reconstructs a working industrial site in Leimen — pipes, bays, yard surfaces and building envelopes — at 13.8 million Gaussians.
For browser delivery that is more than a page should ask of a visitor, so the source is decimated by half to 6.9 million before it is packed into SOG. The result lands at 91.1 MB and still streams progressively: the viewer renders a coarse version within a second or two and resolves detail as tiles arrive, so nobody waits on a full download before they can orbit. Halving the count costs some crispness on close-up pipework and nothing at walkthrough distance, which is the trade you want for a scene meant to be opened rather than measured.
For a live facility the same pipeline is what turns a plant survey into something operators will actually open. A walkthrough like this can carry equipment tags, be re-cut for a shutdown zone, or be diffed against the next survey epoch. This particular scene is published as reference under CC BY 4.0 and is not a Geopage client project.
